If you purchased the domain name registration through the SPS system then, although the domain name is held in our account, it is registered in YOUR name. Consequently, your name and email details are given as all the contacts for that domain name, which means you can transfer it.
Domain name transfers are always initiated from your new registrar account!
So this process starts by YOU having a new domain name account and starting the process there.
So, to transfer your domain name this is what you need to do:
- Go to: My Account > Manage Domain Names, and identify the domain in question and click the ‘Manage’ link for this domain name
- First, make sure that the contact email on the domain name is correct, otherwise the authorization codes will be sent to the wrong email.
- On the Manage Domain page, click the blue menu item for “transfer” and then click the SEND CODE green button so that you can get the authorization code needed when you request a transfer from your new registrar.
- Next, go to your new Registrar account and initiate the domain name transfer – you will need the authorization code at this point.
- You will then be sent confirmation emails by both ENOM (where we have your name registered on your behalf) and also your new Registrar. You MUST respond and act on the information in those emails (typically click links and confirm that you do wish to proceed with the transfer)
- After about 5 days, the domain name will be successfully transferred to your new account
Once you have started the process, you just need to look out for the emails coming from the different registrars.
